Apisikaap Adakori

Upper east, Ghana   |   middle aged

Have 7 children and all my children are students

I am Apisikaap Adakori, a middle aged disabled man.

I live in the Upper East Ghana region.

I have 7 children and all my children are students.

All the responsibility for their education is on my shoulders.

My disability has been a problem as we are facing financial hardship.

We don’t have a decent place to live; and we don’t have good food to eat.

A few years back, my leg was severely injured and I couldn't get treated properly as we had no money. The effects from the injury piled up and led to my current disability. I haven't been able to walk for years now and cannot support my family financially. This has caused chaos in my family and the relationship between me and my children is unpleasant. We don’t have a decent place to live; and we don’t have good food to eat. My medicines are too expensive and due to lack of money I have to skip taking them which just makes my condition worse.

All my children’s future careers are on hold because they have to support me rather than focusing on their studies. The Africa In Me has been like a guardian angel during our sufferings. They visited my family, counseled us and donated food and essentials.

Food and essentials may sound like a small help but to people starving to save a little money it’s like nectar from the gods. AFIM is a part of my family and their unending support has stirred me up to think positively towards my children’s future. I hope everyone supports me in shaping my children's future in any way possible.

AFIM is a part of my family and their unending support has stirred me up to think positively towards my children’s future.
