My daughter’s name is Rebecca Gyamaah,

she is 21 years old.

She was born disabled.

It was very difficult for us to analyze what problem she actually had.

Personally, as a mother it is still hard to see her fight with her inner problems and we have been working to gain triumph over our vulnerability.

My name is Janet Gyamfuah, a mother to an intellectual disability child living in the Sefwi Adabokrom of the Ashanti Region.I am 45 years old and have 3 members in my family i.e. my husband, me and my daughter.

My daughter’s name is Rebecca Gyamaah, she is 21 years old. She was born disabled. It was very difficult for us to analyze what problem she actually had.The stages of trauma she went through are different from that of a normal child. As her parents, my husband and I have been always doing our bit to give her a good life.

Personally, as a mother it is still hard to see her fight with her inner problems and we have been working to gain triumph over our vulnerability. My husband and I have been working as caretakers of a cocoa farm. The work is not as easy as it sounds. We have to leave our daughter home alone sometimes if there is a heap of work. The work doesn't pay much to manage our home expenses as well as her medicine. Government is not helping to give out free medical services. She is also in need of nutritional food and other essentials and we aren’t able to cater it all with this less income.

The Africa In Me visited us on (8/20/2020) and asked us about the problems we have been facing. After the queries, our family was provided with food and other essentials on (9/24/2020). This donation has been of great help as we could spend money on her medicine. I am not able to work much as she needs someone to take care of her so we are in need of help. Through AFIM, everyone can be a part of our family and help our beautiful daughter to sustain a peaceful life. AFIM has aided us a lot through our plight and we consider them a messenger of GOD.

Through AFIM, everyone can be a part of our family and help our beautiful daughter to sustain a peaceful life.
